Cibiana di Cadore and the Murales
Discover the Murals of Cibiana di Cadore, large frescos painted on the walls of Cibiana’s houses. This is why the village has been dubbed "Paese dei Murales", Village of Murals. All of these works give shape to an outdoor museum that every year is enriched with new subjects and to which both Italian and International artists – even from Japan and from many countries of the former USSR – have contributed. The murals form a symbiotic relationship between art and urban architectural structure. They revaluate not only local traditions, arts & crafts and culture, but they also adorn the village dwellings as they used to do in Italy’s medieval towns.
Museum in the Clouds and Monte Rite
The Museum “Dolomites”, namely the “Museum in the Clouds”, lies on Mount Rite (2181 m) in the heart of the Dolomites, between Pieve di Cadore and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Laid out inside a WWI fort and dedicated to the element “rock”, the museum tells the story about the exploration of and mountain climbing in the Dolomites. The top of Mount Rite may be reached on foot from the Cibiana Pass (2-hour walk). In summer, when the museum is open, a shuttle service is also available for a small charge.
